This blog is devoted to baby Micah Gabriel Class, born October 2, 2008, Micah was admitted to T.C. Thompson Children's Hospital on November 28, 2008. We visited T.C. Thompsons ER twice for fever, diarrhea and vomiting and were admitted. Micah was eventually diagnosed with Slick Gut Syndrome. Micah will be admitted for at least 4-5 weeks and has months of recovery ahead of him. I am blogging about Micah to update friends and family and to help others who are going through the same thing.
After looking over this whole profile, it's hard to believe the sick baby in the beginning is the same happy little toddler I see when he comes to visit. Praise be to God!

I found your blog today when researching my own baby daughter's health problems. I cannot believe how similar our stories are! My name is Christie and my baby girl, Savannah was born March 23, 2007. We nearly lost her when she was almost 5 months old and she was admitted to our local children's hospital for a month. She, too was put on Neocate and used a nose tube for feeding, we had an in-home nurse, and Savannah had a central line and atrophied villi that caused severe malnutrition.
ReplyDeleteIn my daughter's case, though she saw many specialists, including an Infectious Disease doc (who also specializes in Autoimmune disorders, several GI docs, a genetics specialist who flew in from out of state, etc), we were never given a diagnosis. They still call my daughter the "mystery girl."
My daughter is now 2 years old and seems lightyears away from the very sick little baby she was early in her young life. She's actually in the 95% for weight and the 75% for height which is quite a miracle considering everything that went wrong with her health early on. Her immunity issues continued for many months before stabilizing around her 1st birthday. Despite being told she may not catch up with her peers in milestones, etc -- she has in fact, met them all. :)
Savannah is currently having dental issues that will require minor dental surgery to correct. I am not certain if her current problems are related to her former illness or not.
I really just wanted to touch base with you though. I am stunned how many parts of your story sound like my own.
I wish your sweet baby the best of health!
